R6 Marketplace Guide 2026 – Best Place to Trade Siege Items

The R6 Marketplace is Ubisoft’s official trading platform for Rainbow Six Siege cosmetic items. As of July 2026, it remains offline after a security breach, and Ubisoft has confirmed it will not return anytime soon.

What Is the R6 Marketplace

The R6 Marketplace is a web based trading hub built into Rainbow Six Siege. Players use it to buy and sell eligible cosmetic items, including weapon skins, operator uniforms, headgear, charms, attachment skins, drone skins, and operator card portraits, using R6 Credits. It works like an order book system, similar to a stock exchange, rather than a fixed price shop. Buyers set the highest price they want to pay and create an order, while the system matches them with the lowest available seller price. GHGH

How the Marketplace Works

To buy an item, a player enters the highest price they are willing to pay, creates an order, and waits for a matching sale. The price acts as a maximum, since the Marketplace actively looks for the lowest available price. The transaction completes as soon as a matching seller is found. Ubisoft

Only certain items can be traded at any given time. Items from the current season are not tradable until the next season is released. Ubisoft

Requirements to Access the Marketplace

Before the shutdown, players needed to meet a few basic conditions to use the Marketplace. According to Ubisoft’s own guidance, an account had to reach at least level 25 and have two factor authentication enabled on the Ubisoft account before trading was allowed. My Blog

Marketplace History and Launch

The Marketplace did not launch all at once. Closed beta access began in late 2023 alongside Operation Deep Freeze and rolled out in waves to roughly 200,000 players before the full public launch. The full public release happened later. The Marketplace launched fully on June 10, 2025, alongside the Siege X update, ending a decade of player requests for an official way to trade cosmetics. Cross platform support allowed PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players to trade within the same pool of items. GH + 2

Why the Marketplace Is Offline

A major security incident hit the Marketplace in late December 2025. On the day of the breach, players logged in to find inventories filled with content they never purchased, with some accounts showing billions of R6 Credits and developer only cosmetics appearing in player lockers. Ubisoft acknowledged the incident and shut down both the game and the Marketplace shortly after. GH + 2

A separate source names the exact cause. A database vulnerability called MongoBleed was exploited by attackers who distributed roughly 2 billion R6 Credits and unlocked developer exclusive skins across millions of accounts. Ubisoft rolled back all transactions and took the Marketplace offline for a full security rebuild. R6 Marketplace

Current Status of the R6 Marketplace

The Marketplace has stayed closed for months, and Ubisoft has now moved away from earlier promises of a quick return. As of the end of June 2026, Ubisoft confirmed that the Marketplace is not coming back anytime soon, reversing the earlier expectation of a relaunch during Year 11. Hotspawn

The company explained its reasoning around the extended closure. Ubisoft points to account theft, botting, and credit transfers, with a meaningful share of past transactions tied to malicious activity. The company also cites pricing instability and distorted item circulation as ongoing concerns. Hotspawn

What Changed for Renown and Credits

With the Marketplace closed, Ubisoft has also changed how players get new items. Starting in Season 3, new event packs move to R6 Credits only, and older event collections will return with dual currency options. Masterpieces are also becoming directly purchasable with Credits, removing the old requirement of completing an entire collection first. HotspawnHotspawn

This shift reduces the role of Renown, the currency players earn by playing matches. Since Renown’s only growing role is clearing out older collections, players who rely on free progression have fewer ways to access new content compared to players who buy Credits directly. Hotspawn

Staying Safe While the Official Marketplace Is Down

Several websites use the name “R6 Marketplace” to sell Rainbow Six Siege skins and accounts outside of Ubisoft’s system. These sites are not run by Ubisoft. One such site states directly that it is an independent community resource for Rainbow Six Siege players, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ubisoft Entertainment SA. My Blog

Buying or selling accounts through third party sites carries risk, since these trades sit outside Ubisoft’s official systems and account protections. The safest approach is to rely only on official channels for updates and to avoid any site offering direct cash trades for accounts or in-game items.

Where to Watch for a Relaunch

Ubisoft has not given a new date for reopening the Marketplace. The most reliable way to track any update is through official Ubisoft channels. Watching the official Rainbow Six Siege news page and the Rainbow6Game account is the safest way to catch any reopening announcement first. GH
