Tokyo, a Labrador dog, was rescued from Ben Nevis in Scotland after she collapsed on the trail, suspected to have eaten discarded cannabis.
What Happened On The Mountain
Christina Bluhme, a dog trainer from Surrey, was hiking halfway up Ben Nevis with her dog Tokyo when the Labrador suddenly became unwell. Tokyo lost the use of her legs and began drifting in and out of consciousness, according to STV News. Bluhme said she genuinely thought she was going to lose her dog during the incident, based on comments reported by STV News. Yahoo!STV News
How The Rescue Team Responded
Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was called to help after Tokyo collapsed on the trail. Volunteers carried the unconscious 25kg dog down the mountain on a stretcher, since the terrain left no safe way for Bluhme to bring her dog down alone, according to WTX News. Bluhme said carrying a 25kg Labrador down Ben Nevis by herself was simply not possible, based on her statement reported by El-Balad. WTX NewsEl-balad

Vets believe Tokyo became critically ill after ingesting cannabis that had been left on the trail. The exact substance has not been officially confirmed, according to WTX News. Bluhme called the day one of the most frightening experiences she has ever had, and said she never imagined encountering this kind of danger on a hiking trail. WTX News
